WP2: ITC study on cessation

  • Objectives:
  1. To assess changes over time in smoking cessation rates and related factors in lower and higher socio-economic groups, and to assess the extent to which changes over time in smoking cessation and related factors differ by socio-economic group;
  2. To assess changes over time in “intermediate” indicators (e.g., smokers’ attitudes, experiences with advertisements, and number of quit attempts) for lower and higher socio-economic groups, and to assess the extent to which these changes over time differ by socio-economic group;
  3. To assess whether these changes are associated with changes in specific tobacco control policies (e.g. tax/price increase, further advertising restrictions, new product labelling, further bans in public places) and whether these associations are stronger in lower or higher socio-economic groups.
